Papertrey Ink August Blog Hop

Hello!!

Today i have a card for Papertrey Ink's August Blog Hop. The inspiration this month is the fabric, patterns and colors of autumn.

Blog-hop-2

Blog-hop-1

I have some cross stitch fabric that i have been meaning to use on a card, and the colors were perfect for this challenge.

I trimmed and frayed the fabric to fit my cardbase. Next i used a fillable frame and die cut it from green cardstock, stamped the frame and the sentiment.
Next i made some flowers (see below for a picture tutorial on how i made them) from felt. I also die cut some leaves from green felt. Then i hand cut a circle from the cross stitch fabric. I used some metallic floss and back stitched every other one all the way around the fabric.

I adhered the fabric to my cardbase, then the fillable frame. And last the leaves, circle and the flowers.

Felt Flower Tutorial
I though i'd do a quick tutorial on how i made these flowers. I kind of had an idea on how i wanted them to look, so i played with the felt and floss and come up with these flowers.

First die cut a medium and small flower (PTI's Beautiful Blooms II #3). Then i stacked the small on top of the medium, matching up the petals.

This photo shows how i want the flower to end up.

Next thread a needle with floss, knotting one end. Place the need just above the base of a petal (it dosen;t matter which one)

Pull the thread through and then thread through the opposite petal (just above the petal base). Pull tight to bring these petals up.

Next move over to the next petal, placing the thread just above the petal base. Pull this through and thread it to the petal across from it. You will have one petal that will have 2 threads (there are 5 petals).

This is how it looks like when done. To finish i just threaded the needle through the bottom of the flower and tied the floss in a knot.

To hide the thread i filled the center with some tiny brown beads that i had. I just used a little bit of glue in the center, added the beads and pushed them in a little and let dry.

I hope you give it a try! Thanks for stopping by!!

Make It Monday #79 - Fabric Die Cuts

Hi there!!

I have a project today for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday #79 - Fabric Die Cuts. To change things up, i made a Christmas ornament. :)

First i die cut the ornament and angel from chipboard. For my fabric i used some rustic muslin and backed it with some interfacing. I find that this helps when  die cutting the fabric.

After i die cut the angel from the fabric, i stamped the angel and the wings. I then used just a touch of glue to adhere the fabric angel to the die cut angel.

Next i die cut the ornament and a tiny heart from an old story book. I then distressed the ornament and heart with some ink. I adhered the heart to the angel and the ornament to the chipboard ornament.

I then stamped the sentiment on a scrap piece of fabric, trimmed it and then notched the ends. Last i adhered the angel and then the sentiment to the ornament. Added a little twine to hang the ornament.

Have a great day!

Minty Hoolidays!

Hello!!

Today i have a card i made for Moxie Fab's Mint Challenge and The Craft's Meow Sketch challenge. So this minty pattern paper is the ONLY thing minty that i have!! And it wasn;t a bit piece either, lol!

The Moxie Fab Challenge is to use minty in a innovative way, not sure if this counts, but i'm using Mint and Yellow for a Christmas card, its at the very least daring!!! lol

I die cut a small circle, stamped and embossed the cute little Owl Santa. I colored him with watercolors and added a pearl to his hat.

Then i used yellow chevron ribbon, wrapped it around the mint pattern paper and tied it in a bow. I also added a row of pearls on either side of he bow.

Last i added the sentiment Happy Hoolidays! in brown ink. A cool minty Christmas card!! :)

Have a great day!

Sunday's Bits & Pieces #26

Hi!!

I hope you are having a great Sunday! It is super nice here in Michigan! I wish it could be like this all year around!! :)

Today i have 3 cards that i made from bits and pieces in my scrap drawer. It all started with the red poinsettia flowers. I had made a card set and had several left over. I also wanted to use a new wreath die that i picked up at a stamp faire.

So i had enough flowers to make 3 cards and i had some cardstock pieces that were big enough to make into cardbases, each one in Kraft with a pattern. I inked the edges of each cardbase.

For the wreath i die cut some scrap Kraft. I then inked the wreath with Walnut Stain ink, to make it darker.

Since i only had one leaf stamped and i stamped and cut out a few more from green scrap pieces.

Next i adhered the wreaths to each cardbase. I then stamped the sentiments in the center of each wreath. For one of the cards, i used a different sentiment because the pattern was busy and needed a solid sentiment.

Last i adhered the leafs and the flowers. Great way to make up a few more Christmas cards for the stash!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Christmas Poinsettia Squared

Hi there!!

So i meant to do a lot of card making this past weekend.... but life got in the way! :)  But i've been busy the past couple days and today i have a card for 2 challenges: CAS-ual Friday's and PTI's Make It Monday.

The CAS-ual Friday challenge this week is to make a square card. And PTI's Make It Monday is stitching on your card. I combined both into this card (my card is 5.5 by 5.5 inches):

I love cross stitching and currently working on a project so my many plastic floss storage boxs are currently in my car (my project is a kit, so the needed thread is included). But luckily i have a few stray skeins in my arm chair caddy. I found a dark pink metallic thread and along with some metallic thread. This dark pink went perfect with PTI's Autumn Rose ink.

I die cut and stamped the poinsettias from PTI's Christmas Poinsettia set. The stamp has dash lines down each petal, so i pre-pierced some wholes along the lines and then back stitched with the dark pink metallic thread.

I made 2 flowers, one with the large and medium flowers and the other with another medium and the smallest flower. To attach the layers in each flower, i used French Knots with the gold metallic thread.

Then i die cut and stamped some leaves. Next i stamped and embossed (gold) the sentiment. Last i adhered the leaves and then the flowers with pop up dots to the black cardbase.

Thanks for stopping by!

Make It Monday #77 - Inkpads as Watercolors

Hello!

I have ornament i made for Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday. The technique is using PTI's ink pads as watercolors. This is a favorite technique of mine, so i had to play along!

I started with a santa image, coloring it with PTI inks. Then i cut him out. I used a PTI die and cut some chipboard. I also cut some pattern paper to top the chipboard with.

I stamped the sentiment with black ink. Added the santa with pop dots. I happened to have a PTI button left over from the Stamp-a-faire, it happened to match the pattern paper i found.

I topped the button with a twine bow and adhered it to the top of the ornament.

Thanks for stopping by!!

You are Such a Good Friend

Hi!!

Today i have a CAS card i made for this months Hero Arts challenge. They have a couple challenges to choose from, and for this card i went with the Clean and Simple Stamping. I had every intention of doing a Christmas card, but as i was flipping through my Hero Arts stamps, i found a flower stamp. I also had two HA ink pads that i won and haven;t  used yet, so i figured this stamp would be better with pink and yellow! I'm not sure i could pull off a pink and yellow christmas card!

First i stamped the image with yellow, then i stamped over it with pink. Of course i wasn't spot on, but it created a kind of shadow effect, and made the image look orange. So i matted it on orange cardstock.

I stamped the sentiment You are Such a Good Friend in black ink. Then last i added a little bit of glitter glue to the flower centers.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Sunday's Bits & Pieces #25

Happy Sunday!

Hope your Sunday is going good!! Its been a busy week, so i haven;t been able to post, hopefully next week will be better! :) But i did get in a card that i made for my Sunday's Bits & Pieces, a card made from scraps and left over embellishments. I have been making Christmas cards this week, so i used some scraps left over from them.

For card set i had stamped a whole page with green leaves, cut it up to for panels for each card. Left over were some strips that i used for this card. I laid the strip horizontally across my card. Next i found this red scallop sticker frame, that i added to the card with pop up dots.

Next i used a Christmas Stamp. (i will be making Christmas cards whenever i can, i have two craft sales i am doing Nov & Dec and need to have a ton of Christmas cards for them!) I stamped the sentiment to the right of the frame in black ink.

Last i added red glitter glue (for holly) inside the frame and the dot for the 'i' in Holiday.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!
