Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

I started by placing a circle stencil over my card base. I inked the stencil up with my ink applicator, when i was done i then used versamark ink and inked it over my stencil, working it into the little dots. I carefully lifted up the stencil and set it aside to clean later. I added some clear embossing powder and heated it up with my heating tool.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

Next i used a distress marker (same color as the ink) and colored the baby feet directed with the marker. I stamped it on a white circle i die cut. I love the watercolor like feel you get when you stamp with distress markers!!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

I stamped the sentiment Precious Baby on a double ended banner. I also die cut some tiny flowers from white felt and added tiny dots of blue glitter glue to the centers.  I found a white circle border in my extra stash of stuff and i added it to my card base. Then i added the banner and baby feet with foam dots. Last i added the little flowers.

The Alley Way Stamps - Sneak Peek #1

Hi There!!

The Alley Way Stamps May release is just around the corner and today i have a Sneak Peek of the new stamp set Nap Time! This is the cutest baby set ever!!!

For my card i played with the cute little duck. First i die cut a tag from vellum card stock. I stamped the duck with versamark ink, then embossed it with white embossing powder. I then flipped the tag over and colored the back side of the duck with distress markers.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

I made my card base from white card stock and added two stripes of yellow poka-dot washi tape across the card base. Next i tied some yellow and white chevron ribbon into a bow. With some adhesive white glue (dries clear) i added the vellum tag and the ribbon to my card base.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

I decided not to add an sentiment, i liked it with out mainly because i would have to use either, black, brown or a yellow ink. I wasn;t sure how that would look, so to be safe i left it off. I figure when i need the card i can easily add a sentiment to the inside!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

Thanks so much for stopping by! Make sure you stop by The Alley Way Stamps blog for the other sneak peeks by the DT and for your chance to win Nap Time!! The DT will be having sneak peeks up to the new release blog hop on Wednesday!!

Super Hero

Hiya!!

So the past couple weeks i've been playing with some new stamps from my stamping friends and as i was putting the stamps away i realized i had one set from a friend that i have had for some time but never used!! So i moved it to my desk to fix that!! The set is Neat & Tangled One The Corner by Miriam Prantner!
Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

I decided to use the sentiment Super Hero and it made me think of Superman. I also new what kind of background i wanted to do, so i used blue and red colors! I started by inking one end of my panel with blue ink. I used the ink applicator and added ink all the way to about center of the panel. I then flipped it around and ink the other side with red. I gradually got lighter with both colors at the middle and blended them together. You get purple when you blend blue and red, and i didn;t want it to be very noticeable so i only blended a small area!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

Next i flicked water with my paint brush all over my panel. While the water dried, i stamped the street sign on watercolor paper. To color it i used some ink, pressed it onto a clear block and mixed in lots of water to get various shades of grey. Then i cut it out and added it to my panel with foam dots.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

Last i added sequins, because i thought it needed a little something!! And noting better then sequins!! hehe!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Make Me Smile

Hello!

Today i'm sharing a shaker card, only the second one i've ever made. The first one, well it didn't turn out so well! So the other day i thought i would try a different kind and this one worked a lot better!! I made this card for The Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Confetti Crush. The sequins in my shaker shape is the confetti!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps
I started by die cutting two labels from vellum paper, then i pierced holes all around the edge. I used some gold metallic thread to stitch the two vellum shapes together. Before i closed it, i added some sequins that matched my pattern paper and a couple tiny bird wood veneers.
Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

Then i inked up two birdies from The Alley Way Stamps Birds of a Feather stamp set and fussy cut them out by hand. Next i die cut a double ended banner and stamped the sentiment You Make Me Smile from the TAWS set Speak Easy (have you noticed i use this set a lot?!?! It has the perfect sentiments!!)

I used some pretty flower pattern paper and before adding it to my card base i inked the edges lightly. Then i added the birds and banner to my shaker, and then added it to my card base.

I really love how it turned out and will have to try this kind of shaker card again!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Scootin' Happy Birthday

Hi there!!

Today i'm sharing a card i made i don;t know how many weeks ago!! I recently cleaned off my craft desk and put all my extra embellishments, die cuts, stickers, paper scraps, etc all in this small dish with semi-high sides. The dish (full of stuff) sits on my desk and is kind of in the way, but as you probably noticed in past posts, i am committed to using up all the stuff in this dish!! And almost everything on this card comes from that dish!! Yay!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

For Christmas i received the remaining Distress Markers i was missing and colored up a storm!! Several of those colored images are in my dish, just hanging out waiting to be used! Well for this card i used one! Cute little Penny Black's Mimi riding on a scooter!!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

I trimmed the watercolor paper that i stamped and colored Mimi on. One edge i cute with a die, the negative of a notepad (should have flipped it around, but i like it regardless) Next i wrapped black twine around the panel and tied it in a bow.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

I also found in my dish a flower journal card from who knows what, from who knows when!!! heheh!! :D I thought the flowers matched the colors i used to color Mimi, so i rounded the corners and adhered my Mimi panel to it. I stamped the simple Happy Birthday sentiment, then i adhered the whole thing to my card base with foam dots.

Have a great day!!

Magical

Hi there!!

Last week i did a little experiment! I used glue with a stencil!! Yep you read that right! Glue!! I used a nice somewhat thick (you don't what it runny, like Elmer's glue!) white glue that dries clear. I wasn't sure how they well the glue would spread or how it would look after lifting the stencil, but it worked really nice. Probably would work with a stencil that is very detailed though!
Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

Once i lifted the glue i added first the gold glitter (this glitter is big and chunky!!), however i did leave some spots not covered. I quickly shook off the excess and then added purple glitter, then i gently pressed the glitter into the glue a little, figured it would help hold the glitter. Then i shook off the excess purple glitter and put it back in the tube.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

I came back much later in the day or the next day (can't remember!) and the glue held the glitter nicely, only a stray fleck or two comes off if you really shack the card.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

Since i didn't really want to cover my lovely medallion (and yes it really is a medallion, though after editing the photos i thought it look like a snowflake! The glitter blurs the edges a bit!) i die cut a banner and stamped the sentiment from the TAWS stamp set Enchanted. I think the sentiment went wonderfully with the sparkle of my medallion!

Thanks for stopping by !!

Happy Easter

Hi!

I originally was going to post this yesterday, but then duh! it hit me, wait one more day and post the Easter card ON Easter!! LOL! I made this card for Taheerah's Cure for the Monday Blues Challenge #13.

From the inspiration photo i took away the bunnies and the pink and yellow colors that dominate. I actually had a different plan, but when i sat down and started it morphed into something else.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamp

I did a lot of masking and stamping to make my bunny background. I wanted it to be a really full background, so i had 3 bunny masks and 1 ear mask going at once. When the background was don;t i wasn;t sure what i wanted to do with it, color it, color one or two, add a paper peiced bunny.... the ideas were swirly, but i didn;t want to mess it up!!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamp

As i was thinking about it, i took a pieces of water color paper and stamped, then embossed the Happy Easter in white. Then i used pink and yellow watercolors to color the strip. I thought it was hard to read the sentiment so i added some shadow to the Happy. I added a couple pink sequins and a yellow sequin.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamp

When that was done, i thought that the background really needed something so i decided to just color the bunny noses and leave it as that. Kind of less is more!! (and i really didn;t want to try something and have it not work out and all that work down the tube!) Last I added the watercolor panel to my card base with foam dots.

Thanks for stopping by! And i hope you have a wonderful Sunday!!

Mr Fix It

Hey there!!

Today i have a card for you made with a NEW stamp set from a NEW stamp set company: Waffle Flower!! My friend Nina Yang is the owner and designer of these new stamps! As soon as i got them i started playing, so you will be seeing more soon!

The first card i want to share is from the Hey Mr. stamp set. My pocket book could only allow for a couple of sets and i choose the Hey Mr. set because while i have a couple 'manly' sets none included tools! I love not just the images but also the sentiments!!
Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

For my card i first stamped the tool box in red ink and added the lock with black ink. I stamped the tools, drill, hammer, screw driver etc. around the tool box. I also added a few tiny nails. Then i added a ground, so they wouldn;t be floating in space. I used a distress marker and water. Next i cut out the top portion of the card stock.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

I found some chevron and woodgrain pattern paper and added it to my card base. I stamped the sentiment at the top. Then i added my tool panel with foam dots. I love how it turned out!! A nice, no fuss manly card!!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

Thanks for stopping by!! I hope you will check go and check out all of the new Waffle Flower stamps!! p.s. there are metal dies too!!

Be Inspired Challenge #51 - Take 2

Hiya!!

Today i have another card for The Alley Way Stamps Be Inspired Challenge #51! The challenge is now 4 weeks long and the current challenge has about a week to go, so there is plenty of time to play along!! The winner gets 2 stamps sets AND gets to be a guest designer in an upcoming Be Inspired Challenge!! Cool, huh?!?!

Here is the inspiration photo:

I started with a red card base and placed a poka-dot stencil over it. Then with a white opaque pen i did a quick sketch inside each dot. I let the ink dry before removing the stencil.
Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

Next i die cut a circle from watercolor paper and stamped the radish image from Veggin out. I colored the radish with distress markers. I also stamped the Rad sentiment on the circle's

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

Then i die cut a scallop boarder from Kraft card stock and used the technique discovered by fellow DT team mate Christine. She found an awesome technique to make your own woodgrain paper, it super easy and super cool! I did the same thing in her video with my border, only i used a small brown mini ink pad, which worked perfect with the small border! Click here to check out Christine's video!!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

I added my banner, circle and a little wood veneer to my card with foam dots. I just love this card!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Don't forget to submit your own take on the inspiration photo!!

Miss You

Hi there!!

Well we ended up getting 3 inches and breaking the record! So now that winter had its last gasp i hope spring will actually stick around!! Today's card uses stencils and i have been think about this card for awahile! In fact i had planned to use another part of the stencil, it was all planned in my head but totally forgot when i actually made the card! Regardless i love how it turned out!!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

To start i cut a panel of watercolor paper (ended up using the rough side that i though was the smooth side!!). I placed my stencil over the paper and used 2 yellow distress inks to color in the stencil. When that was done i flipped the stencil over and down a little and used 2 orange distress inks. I did it again and used red distress inks.

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

I had a little strip left at the bottom, so i added the black strip, felt it really helped ground the panel. I then stamped the Miss You word bubble from The Alley Way Stamps Spell Check set. I cut it out and adhered it to my card base with foam tape!

Dana Warren - Kraft Paper Stamps

I love how it turned out!! Thanks for stopping by!!
